No itchy feeling to the touch. These shawls would make a very special gift for a new baby. A luxury item and so beautiful for baby or for you to snuggle up with. You might think this shawl looks to delicate to use but the natural fibres are extremely tough and you will get loads of use out of it. Don't be afraid to use it! Alpaca comes from an Alpaca animal which are especially bred for their fibre. Alpaca is said to be warmer than sheep's wool but very similar properties being also flame retardant. Alpaca fibre is hypoallergenic and contains no lanolin. An alpaca is typically shorn once a year for it's fibre and is not hurt during this time. Machine knitted in New Zealand. This shawl only requires a hand wash in warm water and dry cleanable. It is quite ok to use the shawl without washing it first. There is full washing instructions on the shawl but it shouldn't require too much washing. Please use a wool detergent especially for wool.
