Alpaca comes from an Alpaca animal which are especially bred for their fibre. Said to be warmer than sheep's wool but very similar properties being also flame retardant. Alpaca fibre is hypoallergenic and contains no lanolin. An alpaca is typically shorn once a year for it's fibre and is not hurt during this time. Machine knitted in New Zealand.
