Why Wool?

Wool has a unique ability to absorb up to three times its own weight in moisture, drawing the moisture away from the skin without feeling damp. And we all know how many times a child will walk right through a puddle instead of avoiding one! Wool has safety aspects for children too, being flame resistant. Merino wool is tough, non prickly, easy-care being fully machine washable.

Wool's warmth will increase with washing. The natural fibre of wool is a mother's best friend. Unlike synthetic clothing which absorbs dirt and stains wool repels dirt and doesn't need to be washed very often. Wool is an insulator and will hold your body heat. It allows your skin to breath naturally so doesn't encourage sweating. It's the perfect fibre for babies because at a young age the body hasn't learnt to regulate heat very well and so a baby can be prone to over heating in synthetics. It is the perfect fibre for all seasons.

Sheep are shorn which is just like cutting your hair. It does not hurt the sheep. Sheep continuously grow wool and are typically shorn once a year. It's very important to shear a sheep to keep the sheep healthy and cool in the summer.

At Cosy Toes we promote New Zealand wool and are proud of the fact that your children are wearing a natural fibre that is also environmentally friendly.
