Cosy Toes and the Christchurch Earthquake

On the 22 of February 2011 Christchurch suffered an Earthquake, magnitude 6.3. This followed a large earthquake in September 2010, magnitude 7.1. The Christchurch people and surrounding Canterbury people have had ongoing after shocks following this earthquake. Although the first earthquake damaged many buildings there was no loss of life. The recent earthquake in February severely rocked our people with severe loss of life and buildings.

New Zealander's have pulled together to help our beautiful city and its people.

Cosy Toes is situated approximately 100 kilometres north of Christchurch.
Being a Mum myself I pulled together my friends and customers to help
the Christchurch babies, children and families in need.

We collected and delivered to Christchurch:

Nappies - 3701, Baby Wipes - 5898, Nappy Sacks - 1028,
Sterilisation Bag Packs - 60 which can be used 20 times each (1200 times!), Baby bottles, Baby bottle teats, hand sanitiser, toothpaste, toothbrushes, cans and jars of baby food, baby formula, nursing pads, sanitary items for women, change mats, baby soap, baby spoons, bowls and drinking cups, plus other little bits and pieces.

I would like to thank all of you very generous people who have kindly donated these items, Medela, Frances from Breastmates, Marina, Gordon and Shannon for helping me deliver these items. Plus also the kind help for the Canterbury Pregnancy Help Centre in Christchurch.

On 18th May 2011 a free seminar was held for businesses that were looking for alternative ways to run their business after the earthquakes.
Cosy Toes helped with this seminar and Tracey spoke about the Cosy Toes story and conquering the challenges of websites.

"Thank you for the opportunity to attend your seminar yesterday. I enjoyed immensely the ideas and innovations that were revealed throughout the day and I have come away with a clear vision of where to from here. The timing of your seminar was perfect! Congratulations to you both on your successes. Kind regards, Suzanne."

Cosy Toes was lucky enough to sell Aftersocks on behalf of Rural Women's New Zealand in June 2011.
All proceeds for these merino socks went to the Christchurch Mayoral Fund.
